He has also taught energy economics and finance, international financial management, and applied finance at Macquarie University. Dr Ripple has worked as an economist in Alaska, Oregon, the East-West Center in Hawaii, the Australian Derivatives Exchange, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and in the Department of Economics at Macquarie University. He has had a recent research focus on futures markets for energy commodities in an international setting, with an emphasis on Asian oil markets. |

Packey is an internationally recognised expert in energy sustainability issues, having written the manual for evaluating Demand Side Response and Renewable Technologies in the U.S. on behalf of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Dr Packey has also advised the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on assessing energy related pollution and the DoE on their hydrogen program and on mitigating greenhouse gases. Dr Packey has extensive utility industry experience as an energy economist, having worked for Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), Portland General Electric (PGE), the Potomac Electric Power Company (PEPCO), and the Public Service Commission of Washington, D.C. Dr Packey is an Associate Professor of Mineral Economics at Curtin University of Technology in Western Australia. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics and an M.S. in Economics from the University of Oregon at Eugene, and undergraduate degrees in Economics and Business from the Central Michigan University at Mt Pleasant. |
